| "Painting is, for me, a spontaneous event involving sight, emotion and imagination. The sensual components of color and the physical properties of the materials used are the elements that direct the evolution of my work. It is an immediate pleasure that creates a feeling of joy in both the artist and the viewer, Travel, everyday iconic objects that I have collected, beauty in nature and in the human form, a lifetime of looking at other artists all supply the content of my work. Life is art and art is life. Paula Rose was born in Farmville, Virginia on November 14, 1946. She has done post graduate work at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va and Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va. She has exhibited extensively in the US and abroad, winning many awards. She is in numerous private collections as well as the collections of GEICO Insurance and Hampden-Sydney College.
